 abstract={The article focuses on one of the most crucial political discourses in the Philippines. Since the 1987 Constitution was enacted in grate haste after collapse of Marcos' regime, there has been an ongoing debate on fundamental reshape of the political system. The article considers Philippines struggles with the redefinition of the central figure in that system - the President. It presents political context of the constitutional debate in a historical perspective. Moreover, it indicates the most important arguments of adherents and opponents of the constitutional change.
